Description

Salman Faruqui joined the civil service of Pakistan in 1962 after short stints in law practice and as faculty member of National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA). He completed his last tenure as Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan in 2017. He is the recipient of the highest civil award of Nishan-i-Imtiaz. He served as Secretary General to the President of Pakistan and Deputy Chairman/Federal Minister, Planning Commission, Ambassador at Large, Secretary General/Minister of State, Secretary to the Prime Minister, Secretary/Secretary General of several ministries including the present ministries of Commerce, Textiles, Communications, Ports and Shipping, Information Technology, Food, Agriculture, Plant Protection and Forests, Local Government and Rural Development, Environment (Climate Change) and Urban Affairs and Water and Power, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister, Health, Special Education and Social Welfare. He was also Secretary, Excise and Taxation, Local Government, Housing, Town Planning, Public Health, Engineering and Katchi Abadis and Industries in the Province of Sindh.
